Reader Services

All citizens of Lithuania and other countries have a right to use the services of The Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.  

Registration

In order to get registered you will need to provide a document-size phot and a valid ID and to state your residence address (it is advised to provide paperwork verifying the address). A reader‘s card is issued for five years and must be renewed every year.  The terms and conditions of the issue of a reader‘s card are stated in the Rules for the Use of the Library.

There are 18 working places for for reading Old books and Manuscripts.
The documents from Manuscripts and Rare Books Departments have to be ordered till 16.00. The readers are kindly requested to order the documents in advance.

Lending services could be used by the full members of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (academicians), corresponding members, expert members, staff of the institutes of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, staff of former institutes of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, post-graduate students of institutes, mentioned above and persons possessing a personal permission of the director of the library.

Open Shelves Reading Room for Humanities and Social Sciences

The Open Shelves Reading Room offers more than 13500 key monograph and periodicals (19th-21th century) in humanities and social sciences: philosophy, psychology, theology, sociology, political science, economy, law, education science, art studies,  philology, history, book science and other fields.  All the publications are listed in the library‘s electronic catalogue.

In the Open Shelves Reading Room, readers  may also order  publications from the library‘s main holdings.

The reading room has 8 work spaces, 4 of them equipped with computers.
