The goals of the Library are:
- To add new titles and to preserve them
- To serve readers
- To provide the Inter Library Loan service.
The department was established in 1965 on the base of the former library of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics. The items relevant to the research topics of the institute were moved to the department from The Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (journals in English, German, French languages).
